FAT is NOT a FEELING...

I know FAT is NOT a feeling but when I attempt to squeeze into pants that fit loosely just a few short months ago that is exactly how I feel...FAT. I've been kicking myself a bit for giving away all my fat clothes because I was so sure I was NEVER going to go back there but here I am. I'm not back into the biggest sizes, thankfully, but I'm not going in the direction I want to go.

Fat, bloated, stuffed, depressed, stressed, anxious, frustrated, disappointed and confused - that is how I've been feeling. How could I let myself regain AGAIN? I swore I wouldn't let it happen AGAIN and here I am AGAIN.

I had good reason to be scared of regaining weight when I went back to work last September because I've done it so many times before. I really thought this time would be different. I thought I had finally figured it out. I had finally learned to love working out and thought that was the key to keeping the weight off.

I was able to find a way to get to my kickboxing classes twice a week and I get in at least 3 miles of walking almost every day but that just hasn't been enough to keep the pounds from creeping back on. I know there is no amount of exercise that can make up for overindulging on a regular basis and when I'm stressed or bored at work the first thing I want to do is eat. Stress eating and emotional eating is my thing and I need to figure out a way to prevent myself from reaching for snacks all day long when I am NOT hungry for food.

Something has got to give because I've already lost so much ground and I need to stop it. Aside from quitting my job, which, unfortunately, I just can't swing financially, I don't know what it's going to take but I'm going to find a way.

I need to stop feeling FAT because I know FAT is NOT a feeling.

  1. Oh heck, I could have written this post myself!

Recently, I've been guilty of hopping off the weight loss wagon with glee, and proceeding to gain weight.

I know how you feel, and sympathise, but don't forget that we do both have one big piece of heavy artillery in our armoury... we already KNOW what we need to do because we've already done it before.

What we need now is a little encouragement (and for me at least a smart kick in the pants!) and we CAN do this and we CAN keep at it.

All the best, my dear - and here's hoping we'll both get back to shape we want to be in... soon!

  2. Hugs to you MB! I'm so sorry you're finding yourself in that place again - been there way too many times myself. I struggle with stress eating and eating after dinner myself, and you are so right that no amount of exercise can undo calories in, beyond a certain point.

I have the utmost confidence in you that you'll find the best way for you to rein it in. You've been one of my inspirations since I came to the blog world. We're all in this together, and we're not going to quit! Hang in there, friend.

  3. I know exactly where your coming from. Unfortunately in my case, I am at square one again. I've gained back everything I lost! But I refuse to allow the frustration to get to me. I am climbing right back on the horse! I am sure that you can nip this thing before it gets out of control. Just take a deep breath, and give yourself a break .... you know what needs to be done, and you know you can do it! Good luck !

  4. Big HUGS.. you are correct. Fat is not a feeling..it is ALL the other things we attach to it.
I agree with Susan. deep breath and give yourself a break....
and somehow if you could see your prior success as choices you made NOT because you were working or not...somehow there is something with food attached to work...(i recognize because it was that way for me)
    and then breath again! xoxo

  5. Grab that book Refuse to Regain and start working the steps. Best to catch it early. I know that I had to figure out non food ways to destress. Not easy but much easier by incorporating the tips from the book.

Good luck and go back to weight loss mode to reverse th regain- IMO. Karen P

  6. Excercise and diet is the first thing that comes up in our mind if we want to shed those extra weight and it really helps a lot. Decipline and determination is the first key to success, but we always wanted the easiest way. Many people considered lapband as their last option but is it safe? I was searching the internet and I just would like to ask this question if you heared anything about it, the link is - youtube.com/user/RocaLabsReviews and it says that it will give you a gastric bypass result but no surgery at all...any info?

  7. If I had a dollar for every time I said "I'm not going back. Never ever ever will I be xxx pounds again", well I'd have a bunch of dollars. It happens - breathe deep and do what you can to get back on track. We're all pulling for you!

  10. I highly recommend Marcelle Pick's book "Are You Tired and Wired?" She knows all about gaining and losing weight. She also knows that shedding pounds isn't just a matter of eating less and exercising more. Her approach focuses on a balanced life with healthy diet and life style choices. I found it really helpful and she is so encouraging. Good luck!
