Slimmer this Summer and 101 Days of Summer Challenges

Another week is in the hot and steamy record books almost everywhere in the USA. This summer is flying by so fast it's making me a bit dizzy. I wish there were a way to make time slow down instead of whizzing by at the speed of light.

It's time again for another challenge update for the Slimmer this Summer and 101 Days of Summer Challenges:

Total Loss: 94.1 lbs.

Even though I gained 1.5 pounds this week and it may seem like I'm not making much progress, I'm learning very important things about maintenance. I'm bouncing back and forth from "overweight" to "normal" BMI and as much as I look forward to getting to goal, I'm more focused on feeling comfortable in my skin. I'm in the range I want to stay at even though I still have 6.9 pounds to reach my goal of 101 pounds lost. I don't know when it will happen but I know I'll get there.

HYDRATION - Check! With the hot temperatures and high humidity, staying hydrated is actually a matter of life and death.

EXERCISE - Kickboxing, ellipticalling, walking, swimming - I'm doing it!

DO NOT QUIT - I'm all in this time. Quitting is not an option!

My computer is in one of the rooms without air conditioning so I haven't been spending much time in there lately. I have been reading and trying to comment from my dumb-phone but it can be time consuming and frustrating to comment from there. The temps are supposed to be more comfortable this week and I actually shut the air conditioners off last night so I'm hoping to get around and shake my pom-poms or do some ass kicking around the blogsphere.

C25K - Still not happening due to my knee issues. Someday....

I'm still not there yet but I'm getting some good maintenance practice.

It's not very exciting on the weight loss front around here but I'm still holding on to a 90+ pound weight loss and working toward my goal. Even though it's like watching grass grow or paint dry, I'm happy to be rocking the slow and steady plan....

Stay strong, be cool and rock on!

  1. We are at the same place, it seems. I need to lose 5 lb more or so, depending on what day it is, to get to my ultimate goal. But it's not happening. I KNOW IT WILL. We are getting some great maintenance practice, as you say. Keep it up!

  2. I am looking forward to more normal temps this week too - I was also up 1.0 this week, due to no exercise when it was too hot, and too much wine!

I swam for 40 minutes before work today, have all my meals planned for the week and plan an 8 mile bike ride at lunch - we can both have a kick ass week!

  3. Whenever things aren't moving fast enough to make me happy, I just think of you. Slow and steady has become my mantra, and knowing that it has taken you this long, actually gives me hope that one day it WILL happen for me.

Keep kicking it sistah - you are phenomenal!! :)

  4. Your ticker is just amazing, 95 lost and 6 to go - you are a rock star!!!!!!!!!

  5. You are so impressive, I hope you know that! Keep at it--I know you will.

  6. This heat really is crazy! I am happy to see the forecast is showing lower temperatures but the humidity is the real killer. You are doing so great - the weight you have lost is truly amazing. I think it's wonderful that you are learning how to maintain. Those last few pounds will come off eventually but I think you should consider yourself in a happy place - you have accomplished so much!!!

  7. Well, I honestly do retain a few (2-4)pounds of water in this heat. So maybe when it is a little cooler, you'll get that weight drop you're looking for.

Maintenance is crucial--and something I obviously haven't learned yet. So, you're doing something very important with that.

    :-) Marion

  8. Your awesome attitude will see you all the way to your goals!

  9. I'm not sure of if your knees have the same issue as mine, but I bought some knee straps and I can't believe the difference it makes!!! Its just a little strap that goes right below your knee cap, my knee pain is gone! It seems to even have helped enough that when the straps are taken off, my knees still feel better than they used to. Here's a picture of a strap similar to mine:

  10. Geography isn't my strong suit, but, I'm pretty sure I won't be passing through Boston on my way ;)

I am looking forward to it. Nothing is working out here for me so it's time for an adventure!

I've set up my new blog but haven't written anything yet--will let you know when I do.

BTW, you have done such an AWESOME JOB!! Looks like leaving your job lit a fire under you!
