I'm addicted to the winter games. I especially love the alpine skiing, snowboarding, snow cross, speed skating, nordic combined, figure skating, biathlon ... I love it all. I have watched almost all of the competitions except for curling. For some reason I just can't seem to get on board with that "sport" (is sweeping really a sport?) but everything else has me glued to the tv.
I get so impatient listening to all the commentators drone on and on about the same few athletes. I'm not crazy about NBC's coverage because they are too focused on just the American Olympians. I'm proud of my fellow countrymen but the Olympics are about all countries competing not just the USA and Canada. I have been recording the day's events and then watching them back the next day while trudging along on the dreadmill. It definitely takes some of the dread out of it.
I've been thinking of changing the focus of my workouts to training instead of merely exercising to lose weight. I think it's important to have something more than just weight loss to focus on whether it's beating your last time, increasing the amount of weight you can lift, or just getting more balanced and flexible. I need something beside the scale to measure my progress and keep me motivated.
I haven't been skiing or snowboarding in a couple of years but I'm going to dust off my gear and get out on the mountains to play before the season is over. Let's hope Mother Nature pulls through and dumps some snow here in the northeast.
What is your favorite Olympic sport to watch? It's time to get out and play!
I sometimes wonder what is wrong with me as I've never found interest in the Olympics. Not summer nor winter. I'm not a sports fan, not very competitive.
ReplyDeleteI have been enjoying the Olympics as well. That is a good idea to record the events, too many commercials otherwise!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!
I've been watching here and there. I had to disconnect my dvd recorder for the remodel, so I've missed a lot. Loved the half-pipe and the ski jumping.
ReplyDeleteI really do hope to ski (at least once) someday!
The ski cross or snow cross is crazy insane! I don't know how they do it. I also love the snowboarding with all the "youngins." They crack me up. So courageous. Love speed skating, short track. Love to watch a good race. Do not care about hockey or curling. Have not watching any of the couples skating or singles skating either.
ReplyDeleteSweeping might be a sport in my house if anyone actually does it.
I think you should seriously consider making that shift from working out for weight loss to working out for fitness. It's a really great feeling to not be so caught up in the numbers and weight loss.
ReplyDeleteHi :) I've been away from blogging for a while, but was checking out your site from my links. Hope all is great with you! Away to have a read of your posts. - John
ReplyDeleteFunny how a simple word change - from working out to TRAINING - can impact how we feel about exercising. I think that word makes it feel more like we're working FOR something, not just being like a hamster stuck in a wheel, going nowhere. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI love watching the Olympics too. Seeing the dedication that the athletes have to their sport is really motivating to me. I love watching the figure skating and the speed skating-Apolo Ohno and Shaun White are my two favorites to watch. They both have such great attitudes.
ReplyDeleteI've been enjoying them too. I can't believe they are basically over. Kinda sad.
ReplyDeleteBeing Dutch, there's only one sport to watch, speed skating. Though this isn't a really good Olympics for us.
ReplyDeleteI do love the Nordic events and the ski-ing.
I try to pick up some tricks for the skiing, but somehow it doesn't work! Hihi! Enjoy the snow.
As you know from my blog post yesterday it's definitely short track speed racing. Love me some Apolo!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree about the curling. I still haven't gotten the point of that sport! LOL
Not sure where to post this but I wanted to ask if anyone has heard of National Clicks?
ReplyDeleteCan someone help me find it?
Overheard some co-workers talking about it all week but didn't have time to ask so I thought I would post it here to see if someone could help me out.
Seems to be getting alot of buzz right now.
Thanks
