Biggest Loser Inspiring a Nation

I've already told you about my love/hate relationship with The Biggest Loser but I have to admit I'm really excited about the upcoming 10th season. I was there when it all started for the black team.* I'll never forget the day Jillian kicked my ass and I burned my pearly white skin to a crisp. My thighs recovered quicker than the sunburn. I have the film footage to prove I did those 500 steps right along with Brendan and Fredo.

I'm sure the guys on the black team and every one of those contestants lost at least 100 pounds in the same time it took me to lose a mere 20 but I'm ok with that. I've lost weight quickly many times over the years but was never able to keep it off. This time I'm all about slow and steady weight loss. I didn't have to weigh in in front of the nation in a bra or have Jillian break me down and make me cry. I'm an ugly crier and I'm sure she would have had me sobbing every single day.

*if you pause the video at 00:59 you can see me in the top right corner on the edge of the frame in a pink tank top.

Would you ever want to be on a reality show? Do you get inspired by the Biggest Loser? I'm very happy to say I no longer qualify to be on the show since you have to be at least 100 pounds overweight. Maybe by the time season 11 rolls around I'll be at my goal. Unlike the Biggest Loser, I'm rockin' slow and steady ...

  1. I have never watched the Biggest Loser. Pretty Crazy huh? I think maybe I have seen a total of 5 mins just while flipping the channels. I don't know if this season will be any different for me. But, I do have Jillian's DVDs, and so far I love/hate them!! You have come so far since your time with the biggest loser. You have much to be proud of. Keep on Rockin!!

  2. I used to watch it religiously but now not sooo much. Thank goodness for DVRs eh? I don't think I could do BL because I would have to wear shorts and I have a skin thing...

  4. I have never watched TBL. Am I the only one in America that hasn't? Part of it was knowing the fact that they were losing a lot faster than I was and it was a lifestyle I didn't really want to emulate to get there.

And yay that you no longer qualify! That really does make you a biggest loser :D

  5. I started watching it mid-season last year. And then had to watch the others online. I actually liked it better than I thought I would ...

  8. I don't watch every single show like I use to, but I am very motivated by seeing everyone working out and sharing their stories.

I'd love to drop pounds the way they do, but I don't workout hard enough. I've also lost weight quickly in the past and it came back just as fast. If only it came off as easily as it went on...

  9. Wow you were on the biggest loser i never knew!

i also have a love hate but must see tv relationship with the BL's.

over here in the UK one of the satalite channels shows Australia's BL and the US version. and i must admit i do tend to get addicted to it, its normally on 5 days a week so a normal season is over in a matter of a few weeks over here and it is amazing to see the changes in the people, but i all the time i'm watching it i'm thinking that can't be healthy all that working out dropping as much as 15lbs a week, week in week out. i think its a good show but personally i feel it gives people unrealistic expectations.

i've very shy so i would never want to be on TV and i am also too lazy to want to put myself through that level of activity!

  10. thanks for reminding me slow and steady is the best way to lose weight. its really a lifestyle change! i don't want to go on a crazy diet coz i don't believe in that. its all about healthy choices and moderate portions. plus for me, exercise is the way to lose weight! i have to work on being consistent in exercising and determined to stick to it.

  11. I'm with you - I have a love/hate relationship with the show. And I'm also a "slow" loser. I think there are some major advantages to a slower pace of progress, especially as you mentioned the work becomes consistent and your resolve more steady to make it your way of life forever. But I will admit, I will probably be watching the show!
