Working for the Weekend

*
It is no secret I absolutely HATE my job. I despise 98% of the lawyers in my office and feel physically ill walking in the doors every work day. I know it's not healthy and if I didn't desperately need the paycheck I would have quit a long time ago. I've been sending resumes, going on interviews and praying I can find another job so I can get out of there before I lose my mind but this economic crisis is making it almost impossible for me to leave.

I try to psych myself up everyday telling myself "don't let them get to you," "only "x" more hours to go," "it's not personal, they are a$$holes to everyone," "let the rude and obnoxious comments roll off," and "rise above it all" but it is physically and mentally draining to have to do this over 40 hours every week.

I'm so happy it's FRIDAY! Only 9 hours to go ....
* My apologies to the few good/honest/considerate/normal lawyers out there (all 3 of you).

  1. LOL and (((hugs))) been there with the crap jobs.

How about acting peculiar at work, developing weird ticks, shouting unexpectedly, laughing at innappropriate moments? Maybe they will leave you alone more.

    Not long now!

  2. THis morning I was dreaming that I was working again, talking to my judge (who Was a great lawyer and judge) and he was quitting. The new judge was a lawyer I detested. I woke up so frustrated and upset! lol

I quit my job 12 years ago to the month. Those lawyers are still with me, grrrr.

    (((hugs)))

  4. Man, that is the proverbial "rock and a hard place" situation. No wonder you had vodka the other night!
(Thanks for the comment on my blog.)
I hope you are able to pamper yourself this weekend and really do something nurturing!

  5. FFM: You would think the swearing and crying would be enough for them to leave me alone. It certainly makes me appreciate my weekends though.

Jo: I hope you can someday get those lawyers out of your head.

POD: HAHAHA ... well, I personally know 2 so I figured there must be at least one other good one out there.

Susan: It's so sad we have to wish our weeks away. They say that money can't buy happiness but if we had enough of it we wouldn't have to work at jobs we hate.

LAF: Yeah, that rock is digging in my back today. I'm thinking of heading out for a long walk down the beach and a pedicure.

Thanks for all the support. I hope you all have a great weekend. ENJOY!

  7. King Henry the Sixth, Part II

"The first thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers". - (Act IV, Scene II).

You can go to northern Italy to do some skiing (I LOVE Switzerland but also Austria).

  8. Awwwwww :( I work in auto insurance, and I get to talk to asshole lawyers every single day. i cannot *imagine* what it's like to work around them 24/7.

Good luck on finding something, anything to get out of that situation.

  10. Mary: Thanks, I hope so too.

Manuela: ...and the Eagles "Get Over It" - "The more I think about it ol' Billy was right, let's kill all the lawyers, kill them tonight."

I'd be happy to get to the mountains in Italy, Switzerland or Austria.

Jess: Sorry you have to deal with them too.

Miz: I guess that makes a definite 3 (Jo knows 1, I know 2 and your married to the last of the good ones). Yeah, I'm psyching myself up to go back to the grind today. I'd rather play hookey.

  12. Thank you- this was the most perfect post to read while I'm stuck here at my crap job! Some days, I literally take out the calculator and figure out how many more minutes I have to go.
